Couple Leaves $1.7 Million to MC To Support History, Political Science
W. Marvin Will arrived as a student at McPherson College in the 1950s with a simple need – a pair of shoes. College employees went out of their way to help get him the shoes he needed. After his graduation in 1960, Will said that those shoes were only borrowed. Now the estate gift he and his wife, Doreen Will, left to the college has paid back those “borrowed” shoes many, many times over – to the tune of $1.7 million.
Global Enterprise Challenge
In just 10 days, six teams of five students each at McPherson College were challenged to come up with a plan for a self-sustaining social venture in Haiti. The members of the winning team – who called their plan “Beyond Isles” – receive a $1,000 scholarship and school credit. But more importantly, they will have the opportunity to refine their idea with help from provost Dr. Kent Eaton and then travel to Haiti’s Tortuga Island to turn their idea into a reality.
The Horizon Fund
McPherson College has awarded several mini-grants to help students explore or carry out an original entrepreneurial idea.
Automotive Restoration
McPherson College is the only accredited institution in the world that offers a four-year bachelor’s degree in automotive restoration.
Giving to MC
Each year McPherson College provides institutional scholarships to students based on merit and need. Last year, the college provided more than $4 million in scholarships to make education affordable. Help support students today with a gift to the Annual Scholarship fund.
